The Council Chamber of Enfield Civic Centre was packed out to witness this year's winners receive their certificates, which were presented by author Joe Craig.

We were overwhelmed by the fantastic response to the competition: we had a huge number of entries, and a very difficult but exciting task short listing the stories!

Joe Craig had the exciting task of judging this year’s competition.  A BIG thank to Joe for taking the time out of his busy schedule to support this event.

The Leukaemia Cancer Society short story competition gives children a unique chance to experience being published authors themselves, and provides another exciting and creative way for schools and parents to engage with the charity. When schools and parents decide to get involved, or work on raising money for charity, they are instilling the idea of charity into their children’s hearts. No child is too young to start learning about charity.

We would like to thank everyone who participated in the competition. Without all of you this competition would not have been possible. The response was overwhelming and we are very pleased with the quality of the entries.

The competition inspired hundreds of young authors to get involved, some that had never written a story before! Writing a short story is not an easy thing to do, but we were amazed by the quality of the entries.

The book, Mr Montgomery and other stories, is available from The Big Green Book Shop.
