We ask that you support this Campaign to help increase the number and diversity on the Bone Marrow / Stem Cell register. Our campaign gets its name from the theory that a butterfly flapping its wings in one part of the world might lead to a hurricane forming in another hemisphere. Just like any one volunteer donor on the bone marrow/ stem cell register can potentially be the lifesaving match for a patient anywhere in the World! Butterflies are also a symbol of hope, joy and a transformation of change: meaning out with the old and in with the new. The same meaning a Stem cell transplant has for a blood cancer patient.

Why are more bone marrow and stem cell donors needed?

Every year, thousands of people are diagnosed with a blood cancer. A marrow or cord blood transplant is a potentially life-saving treatment for more than 70 different diseases, including leukaemia, lymphoma and sickle cell disease. Other diseases include aplastic anemia, myelodysplastic syndrome, inherited immune deficiency disorders and inherited metabolic disorders. Let’s all reach out and make a difference in the life of someone who is fighting to win against cancer.
